Sitting at the foot of Mount Diablo is worth it. It also means a specific kind of dust that arrives with every warm afternoon.
The valley sits directly beneath dry, grassy hillsides, and the afternoon wind carries fine grit off them straight into the neighbourhoods below. It lands on exterior-facing sills, screens and patio doors faster than anywhere else we work. Left for a season it has to be scrubbed; caught on a recurring visit it wipes off. Oakhurst, Peacock Creek and Crystyl Ranch are mostly newer construction: engineered floors that mark with too much water, a lot of glass, tall entryways and vaulted ceilings that put light fixtures and vents out of easy reach. Less time on old trim, more time on glass, fixtures and the high dusting nobody does themselves.
